Handcrafted — sawn, carved, shaped and polished using workshop power tools.
Kirinite is a plectrum for aesthetes and precisionists who value visual uniqueness (each pattern is unique), bright detailed sound ideal for solo techniques and fast passages, and durability with good resistance to wear and tear.
Material: Kirinite (Acrylic)
Basic properties:
- Composition: acrylic thermosetting resin with unique patterns, often imitating natural materials (stone, bone)
- Hardness: high (~90–95 Shore D) — between hard Delrin and stiff PEEK
- Density: moderate — lightweight but stable
- Finish: characteristic gloss and smooth surface with multi-layered patterns
Sound characteristics:
- Attack: bright and precise with clearly outlined transients — ideal for fingerstyle, metal riffs
- Timbre: luminous, slightly "glassy" highs, neutral midrange, slightly muffled bass
- Sustain: shorter than metal materials, but sufficient for clarity
Durability:
- High wear resistance — resistant to scratches and deformation even with intensive play
- Smooth surface minimizes string wear
Playability:
- Stiff — no flexibility, requires precise grip, guarantees control over dynamics
Comparison with other materials:
- vs. Delrin: brighter attack and more decorative appearance; Delrin is more neutral tonally
- vs. Nylon: harder and more durable; nylon is better for warm tones
- vs. PEEK: PEEK offers higher wear resistance; Kirinite stands out aesthetically
